Despite recent gains, including a court decision overturning the Anti-Homosexuality Act in Uganda, and a resolution by the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights condemning violence on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity, the recognition of basic human rights remains a distant goal for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals throughout much of Africa. Rights activists from the continent will lay out their perspective on the crisis.
